Naghedi

Story

Founded by designer Sara Naghedi in New York City in 2016, Naghedi introduced the original handwoven neoprene tote. Sara designed the now iconic St. Barths tote to make the bag she couldn't' find for herself - a modern, versatile carryall that would transcend trends. She saw the potential to reimagine neoprene as a luxury textile that felt elegant, but not precious - Naghedi bags are made for real life, classic yet durable, for all seasons and purposes.

Production

Each Naghedi bag is woven by hand, so they cannot be mass-produced or done with machines. Naghedi works with partners in China to seek out and train people in the countryside who have little access to metropolitan areas. This allows them to work from their homes while earning a premium wage. Each weaver can only produce one or two bags per day. Naghedi receives the unfinished woven totes in their office for the final touches. This is truly a handmade process from start to finish.

Ethos

Naghedi is a woman-founded, majority woman-led, slow fashion brand that prioritizes ethics, craft, and quality. Every NAGHEDI bag has been woven by hand in small batches by skilled artisans who work from home, producing just one to two bags per day. Each collection is made to order in limited quantities to minimize waste. They see timeless design as a measure of sustainability. In 2024, they introduced the Waste Not recycling program, encouraging customers to send pre-loved Naghedi bags back to reduce textile waste in landfills.
